Where one-horned rhinos cross vast grasslands and tea estates climb Himalayan slopes, one of India’s great journeys begins.

This exclusive Northeast India tour takes you through Assam, West Bengal and the Eastern Himalayas. In addition, remarkable wildlife encounters await in Kaziranga National Park. The route also reveals the tea traditions of Assam and Darjeeling, Kolkata’s colonial heritage and Kalimpong’s dramatic mountain scenery.

Travel Mart TM has designed this journey for discerning travellers. It combines authenticity, comfort and experiences with a genuine sense of place. Carefully selected heritage hotels, traditional tea bungalows and characterful plantation retreats enrich every stage.

Your journey begins in Kolkata, the former capital of British India. Today, it remains one of the country’s most fascinating cultural centres. Moreover, grand architecture, historic neighbourhoods and vibrant markets reflect the city’s layered past and distinctive spirit.

Colonial Heritage and Historic Tea Estates

Afterwards, your journey continues to Assam, one of the world’s most celebrated tea-growing regions. Here, elegant tea bungalows and historic plantation residences preserve the atmosphere of a bygone era. In particular, private estate visits and guided tastings reveal how Assam tea is cultivated and produced.

Wildlife in the Brahmaputra Valley

In fact, Kaziranga National Park is one of Asia’s most important wildlife reserves. Its floodplains, wetlands, forests and tall grasslands shelter remarkable wildlife. Moreover, you may observe greater one-horned rhinoceroses, Asian elephants and an extraordinary variety of birds.

The park also protects wild water buffalo, eastern swamp deer and Bengal tigers. Three guided jeep safaris reveal different areas of this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Magic of the Eastern Himalayas

Meanwhile, the scenery and atmosphere change dramatically as the journey moves north. Rolling tea gardens, mountain villages and historic hill stations shape this distinctive corner of India.

Kalimpong offers a peaceful blend of Himalayan scenery, Buddhist heritage and local culture. In contrast, Darjeeling enchants with celebrated tea estates and colonial charm. Its viewpoints also reveal the snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas.

Finally, the journey reaches its elegant finale at Glenburn Tea Estate. Tea gardens surround this historic retreat, while the magnificent Kanchenjunga range rises beyond. Together, privacy, refined hospitality and timeless character create an unforgettable setting.
